General Thimayya Public School began its journey near the historic Omkareshwar Temple in Madikeri. True to the proud Kodava spirit, the school was named after the great son of the soil, a courageous soldier, and one of India’s most respected military leaders, Padma Bhushan General K. S. Thimayya.

The institution was founded with the aim of providing quality education while nurturing discipline, courage, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility among students.

Humble Beginnings and Steady Growth

The school started in 1998 in a modest manner with classes from LKG to Standard I and a team of just three teachers. From the very beginning, the institution received encouragement and support from well-wishers, philanthropists, and like-minded individuals who believed in its vision.

As the number of students increased, the need for better infrastructure and additional facilities became evident. With the continued support of the community, the school gradually expanded its buildings, facilities, and academic programmes.

Expansion of the High School Section

The academic year 2002–03 marked an important milestone in the history of General Thimayya Public School with the introduction of the high school section. Class VIII was commenced with an initial strength of ten students.

The school’s first batch of SSLC students graduated in 2004–05, achieving an outstanding 100% pass result. This remarkable achievement reflected the dedication of the teachers, the commitment of the students, and the strong support of parents and the school community.

As the saying goes, “Well begun is half done.” Since then, the school has continued to maintain a consistent record of excellent academic results.

Transition to the ICSE Curriculum

With a vision to provide a comprehensive and centralised curriculum, General Thimayya Public School adopted the ICSE pattern of education in the academic year 2007–08.

Since the transition, nine batches of ICSE students have successfully graduated with 100% results, along with several outstanding individual performances. These achievements stand as a testament to the school’s commitment to academic excellence and all-round student development.
