About Us

The historic town of Ullal lies 18 Kms from Mangaluru’s city centre and was once a sleepy fishing village but gained fame after Rani Abbaka Chowta ruled from here in the mid-Sixteenth Century. Today it is almost engulfed by the burgeoning city of Mangaluru, but still retains its old-world charm.

It was here in 1946, that the Saraswat Education Society acquired 6.5 acres of land in Koṭekar locality, to construct the Anandashram High School and later a Pre-University College which would cater to the predominantly semi-urban and rural population.

The Anandashram High School, Kotekar began in 1946 as a branch of the Gaṇapathy High School, Mangaluru with just 6 classrooms.  Overcoming severe financial constraints, the school gradually established all basic amenities like a well for drinking water, a games room, a shed for school bullocks, washrooms, a stage, additional furniture, and a temporary shed consisting of two classrooms, all of which enabled the school to become a full-fledged High School in 1956. The school hall was added in 1971 and the main building underwent major modernization in 1972.
