About Us

GSI PU College is a monument in Mysore, to the late philanthropist and Teacher Dr. M. V. Gopalaswamy. After his early education in Madras he did his doctoral studies under the great psychologist of the time Dr. Spearman. His love for the native land and teaching brought him to Mysore and he joined as a Professor of Philosophy in Mysore University. Subsequently he founded the Dept. of Practical Psychology and served it with unique distinction and developed it to an enviable position. In 1935 he started ‘AKASHAVANI’ in his own house. In 1928, he introduced a new concept of Innovative Education through Shishuvihara. He was the first one to introduce the multiple choice questions in the examination system. After his retirement from Mysore University, he joined Bangalore Mental Hospital and started the research Department which has now become the famous ‘NIMHANS’. Dr. Gopalaswamy’s aims were noble and high.

Facilities

Hostel

Our hostel is situated in the outskirts of the city, having a silent atmosphere, facilitating studies. Three sharing rooms with separate cot and almirah for each student.

Transportation

Colleges bus facility is provided to students from Nanjangud, T. Narasipura, Srirangapatna, Pandavapura, and also from each corner of Mysuru.

Canteen

Canteen provides tiffin and meals to students at regular timings, and is known for good taste and homely atmosphere.

Library

Spacious library containing around 5000 books. Students from nearby villages coming early or going late can wait for the commencement of classes or wait for their bus in the library, and can utilize the time in reading.

Laboratories

State-of the-art Laboratories for Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics, with facilities that cannot be seen in other PU colleges. They are provided with projectors and screens.

Auditorium

Apart from the open air auditorium, an auditorium with a capacity of 200 is provided with projector, screen, internet etc. to facilitate PPT presentation or cinema screening. Eminent persons are invited to address the students in this audio-visual hall.
