Christ educational Institutions were born out of the educational vision of Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-1871), the founder of CMI congregation. Saint Chavara was a great educationalist and a social reformer of the 19th century. He anticipated changes In the society and made strategic moves to build a better one based on the Fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of humanity. Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first indigenous religious congregation of India with more than 2500 members, renders its service to humanity in educational, social, healthcare and other humanitarian activities aimed at the integral development of the society.

In the city of Bengaluru, this congregation has various institutions, Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (DVK)- an ecclesiastical university that confers degrees in Philosophy, Theology and Canon Law, Christa Vidyalaya – a Kannada Medium School, Christ Schools – English Medium Schools offering different streams of syllabus, Kristu Jayanthi College, Christ Academy and Christ University- a deemed-to be university under UGC Act.

Christ University, started as Christ College in 1969, was the dream come true of late Bishop Jonas Thaliath CMI and the founders of Dharmaram College. Christ educational institutions are Christian minority institutions. The primary focus of these institutions is the educational and social uplift of the minority Christian students who lag behind in educational opportunities.

Facilities

State-of-the-Art Classrooms : All the classrooms are enabled with multimedia equipment, LCD projectors and screens for better learning. The ambience creates an adequate learning space.

Well Equipped Laboratories : Well equipped science laboratories both for physical and Biological Science are an integral assets to the college. Spaciously spread with infrastructure and equipments of high quality helps in providing the best in practical knowledge.

Study Hall : To support the students in their learning activities, the college provides a specially equipped study room. Common study halls are also provided. Students are both individually and collectively responsible for taking good care of the facilities and for switching off the lights and fans when not in use.

Digital Library : The college maintains not only a growing library with over 3500 books and journals but also well-equipped Digital resources consisting of educational CDs, Competition Preparation CDs, and Competitive Exam CDs are helpful in enhancing and reinforcing students’ comprehension skills.

Computer / Audio Visual Lab : Well equipped Computer lab with 24 hour broadband connectivity opens the gates to the world of knowledge and wisdom to a global level. The college also offers well equipped science and commerce labs with multimedia modules. An Audio-Visual room is available for presentations.

Sports & Exercise : An educational institution should act in the capacity of both an intellectual stimulation as well as a physical well being. The College provides excellent facilities for indulging in sports and maintaining high physical fitness levels along with a gymnasium. . The College facilitates extensive grounds for outdoor sports like Basketball, Football, Tennis, Cricket, and Track and Field events as well as halls for indoor sports like Shuttle/Badminton, Table tennis, Chess, etc. Regular exercises in the morning and specially instituted Yoga classes aim at marshalling the students’ mental energies and enhancing their powers of concentration ensuring holistic development of mind and soul.

It is associated with a well-known hospital in the locality, five kilometres away from the campus for emergency situations. The College regularly conducts physical check ups, which are administered by doctors from various reputed hospitals in the city.

Recreation Room : The College perceives recreation time as a healthy diversion that promotes, albeit briefly, a much needed emotional and intellectual distance from the academic rigour. It facilitates a television with cable network for entertainment. Interested residents may also indulge in a game of carom, chess, and the like.
