‘Desheeya Vidya Shala,’ one of the pioneer Educational Institutions of Shivamogga has been rendering comprehensive education since 81 years, started by a team of dedicated teachers and freedom fighters, dreaming of nurturing individuals to contribute positively to the society.

One of the sister concerns of this Institution, DVS PU (IND) COLLEGE, has been reaching the society with awe-inspiring education since its initiation in 1972. The encouraging and supportive Management, the able leadership and guidance of the first Principal Sri. V. DEVENDRA, with a marvellous team of committed and eminent teachers, the institution grew to great heights within a short span of time. It was a moment of pride to Shivamogga when the students of the DVS PU (IND) COLLEGE upheld its name by securing many top ranks in the State, in all the three streams: Arts, Science and Commerce (until the ranks were announced by The PU Board). Even to this day the College has State Toppers.

Presently, 1500 students are being nurtured to fulfil their dreams by providing well equipped, spacious classrooms, highly modernised practical Laboratories, advanced computer lab to accommodate 90 students at a time, a very well array of resources from timeless classics to contemporary works to enhance the intellectual growth of student in the campus who visits the library. Ever since the beginning, the Institution is creating ample space for training the students for various sports events. The Institution has fostered and inspired many of its sportsmen to succeed in the State, South zone, National and International levels. Added to the credits of the Institution, students have excelled and carved their names in various cultural activities, in the National and International levels, uplifting the traditional values and culture of our State and Country. 

On the 50th year of its milestone, the Institution began a Girls’ hostel within the campus along with its other hostels for both boys and girls in Shivamogga. There is a combined dispensary in the campus to attend the medical emergencies. A hygienic canteen that provides nutritious, delicious meals and snacks at an affordable price within the campus. The whole campus is under the surveillance camera.

To support the students in their academics, the institution has been providing Study Materials and Solved Question Banks. Orientation and pep talks by renowned resource persons are conducted periodically.

• All the class rooms are fitted with centralized Air Condition systems
• All the class rooms are under the supervision of video cameras to monitor the activities of the students
• All the class rooms are equipped with public address systems Many of the class rooms are fitted with over head projectors and other audio-visual aid to enhance learning abilities among students

HOSTEL

The college has separate hostels for Boys and Girls

Each hostel room is furnished with beds, study tables, chairs book racks and wardrobes

Each room has attached bathroom with modern amenities and hot water facility

Generator facility for 24/7 electricity supply

Healthy and delicious food served in the hostel mess- breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner

LIBRARY [A LIGHT HOUSE OF KNOWLEDGE]

An Educational Institution is incomplete without a library. It is the heart and soul of an educational institution. It’s an integral part of every school and college.

DVS PU INDEPENDENT COLLEGE is proud to have it’s own library,which is very spacious and well equipped with countless volume of books for the well-being of students. A well stocked library is an added grace to our Science, Commerce & Arts stream students to pursuit academic excellence. Beyond this, to enhance the knowledge of students, we have other collection of materials and resources in the form of charts, story books with morals, GK books, educational magazines, daily news papers, inspirational and motivational books on famous personalities and patriotism and a good number of journals too. Dictionaries,encyclopedias and other reference materials are stored in huge number for the use of students. Knowledge based new arrivals (books)in the market are introduced to our students to fetch more information about current affairs.
Timely and periodically updation is done to improve the standard of the library.
Qualified and experienced librarians are in service to assist students through out the academic year. It’s monitored with c c tv surveillance.

In addition, we have a good collection of competitive examination books in our library for the students who have the dream of serving the nation in the best way by becoming great personalities being in high level positions.

TRANSPORTATION

D.V.S Pre- University ( Independent) College runs a number of buses which will connect different major routes in and around Shivamogga.

It will help many of the day scholars to reach the college on time, safely.
